Storyboarding

Topic Of The Day

Today we focused on building our knowledge on camera shots and camera angles. We watched videos and analyzed our findings, ranging from how the camera angle and shot effects the viewer, to why each and every angle is chosen for a specific reason and why it is important.

                                          Storyboarding

  • We also learned about what storyboarding is, what it is for, and how to do it. Storyboarding is the fundamental steps of the film you make, it depicts the shot and camera angle with a brief caption of the scene, it is basically the outline of your whole film.
  • In the process of storyboarding the colors red and blue and black are used. The color blue is used to show the camera angle and shot while the color red depicts movement or actions. Black is simply a drawing of the subject and background of the scene using stick figures and things of that manner.
  • You then provide a caption for the storyboard explaining what is happening in the scene and that is the whole process of storyboarding, which simply helps to effortlessly create a film.

Video Analyzing

Today, we analyzed short horror clips and took notes of our findings

There are a lot of important features to take note of while film takes place. This includes things such as camera angles, audio, setting, context, and feelings it creates in the viewer. Every aspect is important in a film, it needs good audio to keep you engaged, good shots/quality so the viewer can follow along easily, and a good story needs to be developed so the viewer can enjoy the watching experience without feeling lost or getting distracted.

                                                       Camera Angles

  1. Low Angle -Give power (camera from ground up)
  2. High Angle - Diminishes power (camera from above looking down) Also includes aerial shot for landscapes, tracking characters through vast settings.
  3. Overhead -showcases complex movement, shows landscapes, also called "bird's eye view" or "God view" showing a divine connection.
  4. Dutch Angle - tilted angle creates tension, mania, unease
  5. Eye Level - most common shot, introduces the character, non-judgmental, breaks the 4th wall
  6. Shoulder Level - mostly used for conversation, can also show difference in height and different eye level for intimate scenes
  7. Hip Level - used in all genres but mostly cowboy movies
  8. Knee Level -doubles as a low angle, shows character details we might not see in wide angle, helps track character movement
  9. Ground Level  - stylish way of tracking character's movement, shows details in the setting

Topic Of The Day

YouTube

  • I was assigned to create a video the best defines me with my classmates for my first YouTube video.
  • I thought of what best represents me and I thought of skateboarding.
  • I then thought of all they key elements of skating and compared it to things that I enjoy doing and things that are helpful for me and that it can benefit anybody.
  • I created a channel and went to the YouTube dashboard to post it, then submitted on canvas.
  • Now I am giving my YouTube a shoutout and everybody should go like and subscribe and learn about all the benefits of skateboarding and how it represents me.
  • Make sure to go comment, Like, and Subscribe to my channel!
